M38 Tailgate question

Did M38 Jeeps come off the assembly line with tailgate chains? I have seen photos with chains on the tailgate and I have seen photos with just the 2 bolts.

they left Willys bolted shut.

We've had 65 years of yes it did, no it didn't, but photos of vehicles
in the factory line are hard to argue with.

Ohh! I got my confirmation long before PC's and Google. The first time I looked up tailgate in the 1955 ORD 9 I knew this answer!

We do however have some folks from Missouri here from time to time!
