Above my rear tire in this linked picture, there is a bracket of sorts. It seems like it was a round bar secured to the body that was eventually cut off. There is one on the other side in the same position. What is (was) this?

Bubba strikes again. I have no earthly
idea. If they were hollow...

Noticed he used one or more factory bolts
stolen from another location.

Also see he put bolts in the antenna mount
holes.

It was the top bow for a bikini top.I have seen them before on MBs back in the 50's and 60's.

Doesn't it have to be hollow or was the rod bolted
on then someone cut it off?

It looks like both were torch cut. Why in $&% would you fire up the torch instead of getting the wrench out?? :?

It was just laying right there. Had to walk all the way across the barn
to get a wrench.....
