M-38 Rear Exle Lubrication
I had my M-38 up on a my lift today and noticed grease zerks on the rear axles near the brake backing plates. Is this to provide a method for adding lubrication between maintenance intervals when the axle bearings are removed, cleaned, and re-packed? Thanks.

Originally yes. But the military removed them due to excessive over greasing which violated the seals and contaminated the brake shoes.

While you are back there take a look at MWO ORD G740-W3 on a vent baffle for the rear axle housing vent.
