M274 Machine gun under the frame support mount

Post by m38a1butch »

I have an M274 Mule that I'd like to mount an M60. I want to fabricate the support mount that goes under the bed that the M25 pedistal mounts to. I have not been able to find any kind of drawing that would give me some sort of idea what it should look like. Does anyone know of somewhere I might find such a drawing or has anyone made one that could give some ideas on how to make one.

Butch, you might want to try the g503 board on that one, John jr

The M38 did not come with weapon mounts from the factory
like the MB and M38A1.

You might look at how the mounts were fastened onto the
m38.

Yes you're right about the M274 not coming with a gun mount already attached to the vehicle. What they did do though is provide separate gun mount sub assembly kit that was installed in the field. I can buy one of these kits but it will cost me $900 which I'd like to avoid if possible, and that is why I would like to either talk to someone who has built their own or find a drawing somewhere showing how it would fit in the vehicle.

What is the mule's mount kit model/part/stock numbers? What service bulletin covers it?

Thanks so much for the pictures and the links, they help a lot. I did come across the gun mount drawings on page 9-14 of TM 9-2320-246-34. If anyone has a photo of what the assembly looks like from under the bed I'd appreciate it. I have a fair idea of what it would look like but would like to see one already installed.

Have you emailed or posted to the project mule page with the mount and asked the owner for his installation photos?

This is really a nice looking mount.
Did you fabricate it yourself. Really professional looking.
Where did you get the drawing for this mount?

Butch,
That's not my mount. I posted the link right above those photos so you could go there and read the owner's comments.
