M38 door frames.

Post by billybob »

Can anyone tell me what size the round stock is that's used for the door frames. I'm guessing 3/8". After looking at Wes's excellent photos I'm confident I can make my own. I'll have the door covers to help with the size and shape. I'll also make a template/pattern out of plywood first. Thanks for any help or hints.

Bretto made his own.

Go here and click on his Photobucket
pages for his details.

Sadly the auto links from Photobucket don’t
work any more.

Thanks. I just went to his photo diary and saw them. He did a very nice job indeed.

Thanks!
Ya they really weren't too bad. The hardest part was making the door hardware. I made everything except the door escutcheon plate. Got those from MWM

3/8 and I used hot rolled. Cold rolled will work but it will make the fab job much harder. HR is plenty adequate for the task.

Thanks again. Yeah, the hot rolled is a lot easier to work with. I love metalwork so I'm not afraid to tackle it. Now, if i can find someplace that has some long enough to do it without piecing it.
