M38 Glove box latch finish....

I've striped off a number of layers of paint on the glove box latch, none of which was OD. Found a nickle like plating on the button and surround.

Does anyone know if this was painted or left in the dull silver plating?

For some reason dash shots are a rare commodity. I know of three dash shots.

In all three the color isn't absolutely identifiable but I will say that in each the push button looks almost the same OD as the door.

Operation Longhorn, Wes.

I got a button from my bud up north. It was painted blue, chrome underneath. Was it a civvy? Maybe.

One would expect anything shiny to be painted. Shiny things attract
ordnance in combat areas.

My headlight doors were OD, chrome underneath. Drilled for the brush
guards.

These head light doors were drilled for brush guards??

Both of my Jeeps and the NOS button latches I have are OD painted.

Flat fender CJs don't have glove boxes, so no civvy button.

Your headlight doors are drilled for brush guards? Do tell?

Been so long since I saw the front of my jeep I
forgot the guards are screwed to the radiator guard,
not the doors.

But they are chrome underneath the od!

That last photo looks similar to the one I was describing.!
I bet it’s in the same group. Guy is driving down a sandy hill
(Dune) away and to the right. Good photo, as it appears to
shoe I painted hardware holding the gauge panel on...

The Jeep in a Crate set of photos is interesting. Seems all the hardware on the A1, used to attach sub-assemblies or parts is bright cad plating. Yet every photo Ive seen of M38s the hardware is painted over.

RonD2 - great link to the M38 photo library. Many photos I have not seen before.

The mini helicopter is a hoot. I am a pilot, yet I have never seen that little beast before. That would be a great addition to any Bantam trailer!!
