Is there a source where I can find what the government paid for my 1952 M38A1. Just got curious. Thanks mike

If not, I’ve got copies of surplus sales auctions and
some of them have it on there.

I have read both $1987 and $2011 and some units actually stenciled the cost on the Willys to make the GI's take better care of them? I think the issue in determining the cost is that the Army procured hundreds of them along with spare parts, etc. So people took the entire contract value and divided by the number of Jeeps to come up with a price/cost - which is probably pretty close but not exact. IMHO

I went through two surplus sales lists.

22 July 1970
M170 USMC cost 2,780
Several A1’s USMC 3,812
Several A1’s USMC 2,876

1 Oct 1958
All M38’s 2,004
All A1’s 1,987
