Matched fan belt set
Anybody else had a problem getting a matched set of fan belts? My 24 volt alternator setup requires a pair of longer than stock belts, but my local auto parts store has yet to be able to provide me with a matched pair. So far, every pair of belts are slightly different sizes. Is there a way to buy a matched set?

Had not thought about that, McMaster Carr lists Precision-Matched V-belts in the length that I need for $14. each, thanks!Have you tried any of the industrial warehouse's like McMaster Carr or Grainger's?
Would like to, but because of the way the alternator is mounted, i need belts that are longer than the stock M38/A1 belts.Have you tried any of the military parts suppliers who support the hobby?

Finished the alternator install. Replaced the front crankshaft seal, water pump and had the radiator re-cored. This, along with the new springs, shocks and the brake work should make the M38 ready for the upcoming season. Also added new tires and new canvas all around.

You mean there is suppose to be a cover there? Actually, I was waiting for a new gasket and seal while I was fitting up the belts. You will also see that I had not yet installed the bypass hose and all the water pump bolts and mounting gasket, either!
Reminds me of the time I took my jeep to a show without the engine. I had the engine out for a valve job and didn't get it back in time, so I just took the jeep on the trailer without the engine. A fellow came up to me, and very seriously said, "Do you know your engine is missing?" I said, "That's probably the loud noise I heard when I crossed the railroad tracks!" He asked if I was going to go back and look for it!
