Jonathan, There are three things you still do not know!

1 - How accurate was your tester?
(Take it to an electrical/electronics shop and have them compare your tester readings with one of their know good calibrated units.)

2 - Is your volt meter in the dash reading correctly?
(Take your dash volt meter to the same electrical/electronics shop and have them test it with a calibrated dc power supply)

3 - Are either, both or none of the two new regulators bad?
(Retest their output at 2000 RPM with a calibrated meter)

Thanks Wes for your time and input.

I will do all those things when able as it is getting difficult in the U.K. due to the virus.

John from Mid West who supplied the unit said it could be adjusted, but is unsure which way to adjust the pots. I have asked him to find out from the people that made the unit.

I still need to check my meter, I fully understand that.

But even if the Hand held meter proves inaccurate it has been used the same way for each Voltage regulator and gives the various readings I have shown.

Will let you know how I get on.

Just did a basic test I thought of with the hand held Volt meter and a new 9volt battery and got a reading of 9.56volts, so in range as I understand.

Without a comparison between two meters checking anything with only one meter will only indicate the one meter has a reading! Calibration checks are to be done with at least 2 meters and one of them must be current on it's calibration card. These non-calibration readings you are taking may give you warm fuzzy feelings but their accuracy is still a mystery.

I'm on my third week of house arrest...

About to go stir crazy. The only human I have seen is the one t the drive-up window when I got a cup of coffee. I live alone and its a different world right now.

I did not realise that some parts of the States have been on lockdown for three weeks.

I have two mans best friends with me been stuck at home, they think I am on holiday and ask for more walks than allowed, i.e. one a day but not out in the car first to go to a more interesting place.

There was a World War two Veteran on the T.V who fought in France/ Germany and made it back. He made the point he went through all that and now it was our turn just to sit on the settee and watch T.V. Not hard.

Anyway if anybody is really board can you come up with a sequence to remove and refit the Drum breaks front and rear on the M38 to a Newbie, I have never seen such a complicated system to have a look at the breaks on a vehicle and I would like to.
I have the std diagrams but no wording or tightening torques etc. Thanks in advance.

Hi.Yes I have had a look, I also have the TM for the body and engine but as Wes said a lot of assumed knowledge.

Like remove hub, not how to remove hub.

I like the idiots guides and U Tube etc.

I am just on with the front pinion shaft oil seal. It would say fit seal, if you have not done one before there are many U Tube videos to build your confidence as they do not just pop in.

I will have a look some more later, plenty of time.

I suggest keeping this thread on topic about you regulator issues. When figured out you can edit the thread title to add something like "Solved!" That way people with similar problems can search the data base.

For brakes you should to start a thread specific to that.
