Fire extinguisher on an M38 Jeep

Post by Claudio »

Hello folks,
Ryan Miller’s M38 Reference Guide doesn’t mention the use of fire extinguishers on M38 Jeeps.
But on page 89 the Figure 196, which may be a copy of a specific radio installation guideline, a fire extinguisher on the bottom of the figure. So question: could the fire extinguisher be a field modification or wasn’t in any way a specific rule for this jeep?
Escuse me if this subject has been discussed in the past.
Cheers everyone!

Fire Extinguishers were not provided for by Willys/Kaiser. Their use was by local directives and installations were as each local unit wanted to do in the field. There are many example photos of jeeps with fire extinguishers but we have found no printed directives for any standard installations.

This has been discussed often here but on our technical page and not our "For Sale" page. I will move your technical question post to our Technical Topics Page.
