M38 Door Hinge Sockets

Post by ocwd »

I would like to drill the holes for my door hinge sockets. Do I need to be precise as to where I place the sockets or do I just install them so the socket is straight up? Looks like the rod system is flexible regarding placement of the sockets. Maybe I should wait until the Jeep is painted and I have all the top components. Not really sure. Any advise? Thank you.

Hey Dave I measured my M38 and 3A, 6.75 from the hinge post centerline to the point of the angle near the body seam. Before you go drilling holes i'll remeasure tomorrow and include a foto.

Due to the inter-relationship of the door snap locations vs the rod hinge location vs the windshield angle I strongly suggest waiting until you can fit the canvas doors to insure the best possible fit of the door.

Thanks to you both. The measurements are very helpful and I will take the advice from Wes. Probably best to do it later. Just heading in to some bondo work and trying to drill holes before the bondo and keep bondo as much as possible away from bracket areas.
