What is painted black on a M38A1?

Hello to all,
I am reading this forum for about two years now. That is also the period I am owning a M38A1 NEKAF #MD11969. During that time I was still occupied with the restoration of my M715 and collecting spares for the M38A1 to start a frame up restoration now. I will not rebuild the truck with the Dutch Army modifications but as a US Army version of the period they have seen service in Germany. I will modify it with the directional lights according to the MWO Wes has published and with a GRC68 radio. I have dissasembled the truck with my boys allready for it will be a father-sons project. So sandblasting is not very far away and with that the painting.
That brings me to my qestion. Taking of the pintle hook I saw that underneath the frame is glossy black. With the M715 Kaiser delivered the trucks with a black frame and axles. Was this also done with the M38A1 and who painted them green? What else was original glossy black? I looked in the knowledge base but could not find an answer. Maybe some body cn help me out.

And yes, the frames were delivered to Willys in black paint and painted O.D. at the Willys factory. Again, this has been mentioned often and can be found using the search function. A thinned down version of the O.D. paint was used on many parts as a primer.

The frames were delivered to Willys in black and Willys did not paint the frames OD until after assembly of the rolling chassis so an original frame can be easily spotted by the many bare black paint spots found as parts are removed.

Thanks a lot,
so that explains why all this black spots are popping up on the frame. So at least I know that this is the original one. By the way, NEKAF stamped in the vehicle # on the left, outer front of the frame between the lifting shackle and grille. In my case it is matching with the patent plate.
