I have acquired an M38A1 jeep. I have no basic knowledge about this but I plan on restoring it. Currently the motor is stuck so I plan to tear it down and rebuild it. I have been told their can be more than one type/brand motor in these. If so how do I determine what I have and if not what do I have? I know enough to know that it is all the original equipment in there.

Welcome to the forum. The first thing I would do is get any numbers off the block and compare it with Wes's list/Chart that will get you going as to what model engine you have. My Jeeps engine is also locked up but I know mine is from sitting in a wet location. Good luck. There are many people here with much better knowledge than me so just read though the articles
