M170 pics

Post by bfr »

I am looking for pics /descriptions of how M170's were used other than as ambulances. I have found references to their being used by the marines as 6 man personnel carriers but would like to see/ hear how they were marked/outfitted. Any help/leads would be greatly appreciated.

The USMC used it as a utility vehicle and painted and marked them just like the M38A1. They also had a few special purpose communications and observer units built.

And they also used them as an ambulance as seen in Brian's Camp Pendleton Museum photo below.

Do you guys know what the original hodd numbers were on your M170's? What are your serial numbers, contract numbers and DOD's off your serial plate?

I finally got he m170 home, but none of the data plates are present on the dash... the patent plate is there, but has several layers of paint on it. What is the prefered method of removing the paint w/o destroying the info on the plate?
