M38A1. Purchased a ‘new’ rebuilt dual action fuel pump from a familiar vendor to go on my newly rebuilt engine. Ran fine for a short time then died and took a lot of cranking to get it started. Noticed gas dripping from the primer lever and what appeared to be oil from around the bottom diaphragm. After examining the engine I saw the oil was way over full. Turns out to be gas mixed in now. Drained the motor.
Have received another’new’ replacement pump.
Need your thoughts on the process of getting the engine clean.
Thanks
Bill

Thanks. The vendor sent another one. I’m just concerned that something else could have contributed to the failure, like if the carb float stuck closed would that cause pressure to build up in the pump contributing to the failure. I know newer systems have a way for the fuel to not continually be pushed into the carb but I don’t think the A1 does. Am I totally off base?
