M-38 differential, transmission

Post by millstoneman »

I am interested in having my front differential worked on along with the transmission for my 1952 M-38 I have owned for 35 years. Someone suggested contacting Brian at Metalshaper who I'm told also lives in Connecticut. I tried several times via email with no response. After watching his videos, I'm convinced he is the go to guy! The problem is, I can't seem to get a hold of him to learn of his services and schedule. Anyone out there that has another contact method, phone number etc please let me know. Jon[/url]

Hello Jon. I moved your post from our LONG TERM JEEP PROJECT Page to our Technical page where it will get more proper attention.

Have you googled Metal Shaper Connecticut yet?

Here's the contact info he sent me a few years ago...not sure if it's still current or not.

I do watch his you tube channel and he recently stated he was booked into next year. He is a one man show...can't find good help.

Differential

Where are you located?
What are you trying to have repaired?
Brian moved a few years back but the town escapes me at the moment.
If you are looking to have differential work done and you are in the Northeasrt consider Mitchell Differential Service in Shrewsbury, MA.
They reworked a D44 for me in ‘21, always answered the phone, had the job done within a week and communicated well. They do differentials for a living. And they didnt have any stories about covid, supply chain or lack of help.

I brought them the differential with brake backing plates removed. And I sourced some particular parts that I wanted installed.
The tech helped put the completed diff into the bed of my pickup and said he really liked working on thr ‘old skool’ diffs. He was very open about how it went together as well as what he had seen of the teardown.
