Factory paint was only OD 2430 applied in two coats on un-primered metal. First coat was a thinned with thinner layer of the OD2430. 2nd coat was un-thinned OD2430. The after enterred service paintings are impossible to list in a complete listing.

I don't usually intrude, Wes, but sometimes...

There were other colors... noted below. This may seem a little weird but the bracket and jeep may be painted the same color.

Fred and I have been discussing the timeline and these are the facts off the drawings and BOMs.

Drawing changed from AE-4123 to A-4123 on 6-11-42.
MB-QMC and MB-NOM bracket part numbers show up 6-16-42.
First known BOM with the parts 8-18-42 show Gov't supplied and WO installed.
Last known BOM with Gov't supplied 11-13-42.
First BOM where Gov't supplied is omitted and WO to supply is 12-1-43.

There is no indication that WO marked their brackets until note L on Drawing A-4123 says to mark it D66675. This note L has a date that is unreadable as are notes K and J2. The H note prior to that is dated 10-11-44.

MB, A-4133 no finish specs as dwg. A-4123 has paint as OD for part A-4125 and forest green for A-4126

CJ-V35, 672674 Marine Corps. Green
MC ORD, 674086 OD
MC USAF, 675102 Strata Blue
MD, 956982 OD
MD, 957074 Navy Gray

I forgot one part number:
CJ-5, 699880 Black

No problem with your intrusion however the WWII info has little bearing here. We also have access to the contracts and BOM's for the 1950 thru 1971 production and the M38's built at Willys for the Army were painted to the letter of their contracts as I posted. One would need access to all Army contracts to all accessory suppliers to determine what shades were used in their contracts and production.

I also advised the original poster that:
The after enterred service paintings are impossible to list in a complete listing.

Mark has been trying to get in touch with me for at least a month to review this. We do have BOM's that indicate other paint codes were the 'original' topcoat in other colors, and also 'overspray' of the top coat only.

I've been crazy busy.

Hope when you get around to it that you share them with this web site as well. Have you found any contracts that ask for anything other than 2430 for M38's?

I am my own worst enemy. Most of the documents I scan are done at 600 DPI full color uncompressed TIF files, and very time consuming to duplicate, reduce, and post. I resorted to taking cell photos of my display and texting them to Mark last night, so we will see how well the posts come out.

Hey,

I don't know if you got my text or email a couple months back but I can send you a thumb drive prepaid back to get the BOM stuff and can compress it and put it up on the website to share with others.\

We have a drawing indicating USAF hood numbers to be applied with chrome yellow, it would be good to corroborate the information.
I have several members with USAF M38 jeeps that are in the date and hood number range per that document.

I'm working 3 jobs, 1 paid and 2 volunteer, and have not been diligent in checking emai

I'm off this week and will locate the material I prepared for you but couldn't get 'wetransfer' to deliver

Ah, does this mean I don't have to post the 47 documents sent me to show the post war information I posted above is correct.

WWII drawings and parts do have impact on a lot of post war jeeps. The drawing in the link shows post war part numbers for the jeeps shown in my posts.

As I recall a couple of days ago I simply pointed out the WWII pubs and data have no bearing on MC/MD data.

Specifically my comments concerned your presentation of these documents.

Not the later MC/MD specific documents which have been heavily discussed for the last 5 years with no one publishing/posting any legitimate dated documents to support any other colors till this little posting today.

This document raises questions but offers no help in what is being said by it since we do not have the benefit of viewing the entire document.

Again this document is incomplete and does not explain itself well at all. Also this document only points out the first MC contract -5748.

It appears Ryan no longer is the first to receive complete documents from Keith. Considering Ryans efforts with this web site and financial support of Keith's efforts that would would keep this appropriation of data documents centrally routed has fallen to the wayside.

Wes,

I am in the process of trying to fix that process. I committed to Ryan today that I will find the MC/MD BOM data that never made it to you via 'wetransfer'.
Other people apparently received it, but you and Ryan could not?
You'll notice I don't frequently post on any websites anymore.
I'm taking what little free time I have to electronically preserve any documents I can find.
I occaisionally respond when I vaguely recall seeing something somewhere that I think can help someone.

Twice recently I've had false starts, once with bumper data, the other with M170 bracketry. I found the data, but the files were too big to send.
