On the rear of the block in this photo (and on mine, later 641087 casting), about an inch from the freeze plug at 3:30 on the clock, is a 1/4-20 bolt in a threaded hole.
Maybe I missed it, but research hasn't revealed it's purpose.
Not used for anything M38 that I can find.
Could be something left over from MB-GPW or CJ.
Pretty sure it penetrates the water jacket, so it ought to be plugged in any event.
Does anybody know it's purpose?
