M38A1 accelerator pedal linkage

Post by m38olddog »

I've checked the manuals I have, but can't find a clear answer. Is there supposed to be an actual mechanical connection between the back of the accelerator pedal and the throttle linkage rod on a M38A1? Or is the rod just supposed to kinda "float" back there in the firewall rubber boot? I think my current pedal is a junkyard substitute, and it is smooth on the back. Thanks!

The ball end of the rod from the pedal to the bellcrank on the side valve cover is pressed into the ball socket in the top of the pedal.

Thanks for the quick reply Wes. I guess I'll need to locate the proper pedal.
