Attachments to rear of block

Post by TomM »

My MC and RMC blocks have a tapped hole on the rear face - 1" from the right side and 2.5" down from the head/block line. It looks to be about 1/4".
What was secured in this hole? I havn't found any pix int he manuals yet that either show the hole or show anything attached at this point.

Thanks

Tom

I believe this was used for clamping the vac advance tube on those civvy engines with a vac advance distributor. May also have been for use when the governor was installed.
