M38a1 tool kit and fire extinguisher

Post by dbschroeder06 »

I am in the process of restoring a 1955 M38a1 and am wondering if anyone can steer me to a list or better a photo of the mechanics tools that would of been in the tool kit. Also any information on the fire extinguisher would be helpfull.

Thanks

Unlike the WWII jeeps the post WWII M series jeeps did not leave Willys with tool kits and extinguishers. The items that would have been found in a tool kit issued in the field would be whatever came from the Army's standard tool issue supply which would depend on the period you are representing and how many different vendors were being utilized for that tool item in that time frame. For a factory restoration you need only the jack and lug wrench. For a motor pool class resto any tools listed by Army hardware stock number in the ORD 7 & 8 will work.
