Correct markings and stars.

My M38A1 is in the paint shop and I am trying to determine the correct markings, numbers and star size, It is a 1954, US built Jeep and was used in Europe until sold to the Belgium Police after which it was shipped to the UK. I have no information as to which base or unit it was used so period marking and numbers will have to do. Any info. would be appreciated, Mike.

Hello Mike. With factory resto unit markings and stars would not be used.

For a period correct jeep you must use the applicable Army regulation (AR-850-5 dated for the period you are interested in) or Technical Bulletin (TB-) for the time period.

If you go with the early to mid 60's in Europe it will be easier for you. Then you can use TB 746-93-1 Dated 1964 and cruise the US Ar,y In Europe web site historical section for unit ID's and markings.
