Starting engine with minimal wiring hooked up

Hey,

I am going to try to start my engine before mounting the tub to make sure the engines checks out OK.

I hooked up the distributor, volt reg, generator and the starter switch.

I figure to put some electrical tape on all the rest of the exposed wiring connections for now to prevent shorting out.

Is there anything else that needs to be hooked up?

The two batteries in series and the ground strap at the right front mount.

depending on your gauge situation, but I would suggest that you set up the dash panel, ground it, and connect your gauges to the engine. This way you can test gauges and condition of oil pressure, engine temp, state of charging system etc. You can also run other gauge set ups that match gauge with sender if you want. It sounds like a fresh engine so it might be a benefit to see if everything does work and check out OK.

Or use a old temp and oilpressure from a mb jeep, they do not work electrical. I think the oilpressure is most important, the temp not.

Yes a good mechanical gauge for the oil pressure that way you don't have to worry about if you got it connected right or if they are good working order on the electrical gauge and sender. I would run it straight off the oil galley where the sender should be connected for the test run.
