Yes, I accidentally left my on/off switch on once and hooked the battery up - there was quite a difference in spark!
Another note: always make sure your battery terminal clamps are clamped securely. A loose clamp can cause some trouble when running your 24V system as there is a lot more spark that can melt lead.
