I believe your serial number is passed the cutoff serial for discontinuing factory installation of the receptacle. If you were real close to that cutoff serial the fender evidence wouldn't have much value since there's no way to ascertain that's the original 1952 factory installed fender.

The receptacles still found their way onto many M38's in the field after the cutoff serial because the Army installed them when the vehicle was deployed to a cold climate like Birmingham!!! Oh I meant Anchorage AK.

Gee, Wes, maybe you're right, we're in the middle of our "week of winter" right now, temperatures have been down in the low 40's at night. 65-75 during the day, too cold to work outside. Sure be glad when summer gets here and we can get back to 105 temps w/105% humidity!!

I think that's exactly it (almost) I had a 1/4 ish diameter bolt through holes 11 and 12 and also the remains of a bolt brazed into hole 14 .

As I had the impression of a square pad between holes 14 and 13 I assumed that those two bolts ( 14 and 12) had held something on the wing.

I now see that holes and bolts 12 and 11 were the related items and the bolt in hole 14 was the 'odd one out' well we live and learn!!
