I found some small, round LEDs (3/4") at one place - but they were 12v. I've found a few 24v LED marker lights, but were bigger than I was thinking of using.

Now thats more of what I'm looking for! I didn't even think about going that route. I think taking the cat eyes out and using an orange bulb would keep it very original looking, yet still be very visible and up to date.

Now, I guess I need to make a decision before I get off of work next Thursday!

I plan on running the parking light circuit into the dash BO light switch. I'm still thinking of ideas for the signal circuit. I don't want a column lever, trying think of something a bit more inconspicuous.

I'm wanting to use the oem light switch but an not sure if it will function on a 12 volt system. I see no reason for it not to with the exception of a 24 volt circuit breaker being in the switch and not letting it work with 12 volts. One of the other posts shows the break down on the switch so now I can at least check mine out to see if it is functional. Not going to use all the positions just the one relevant to my lighting needs. ssw

The lower the voltage the higher the amp loads for same type circuits. So if you are going to run your jeep at 12 volts then the circuit protection devices need to be changed to handle the higher current rates that will be found in the 12 volt application.

There is a resistor in those switches also.

Try the switch first. If you don't get any nuisance tripping of the built in circuit breaker then you do not have a problem. If she trips easily and often then open the switch and bypass the breaker. In both cases you want to fuse the light circuit with a separate fuse anyway.

Would it be easier to run an extra battery and wiring to a set of clamp on or magnetic lights that would act as lights? You could get a three-way switch from Radio Shack to facilitate that leaving you with the ability to remove it at will.
Here in MA the vehicle is only required to have working what it came with stock. So, no seat belts original then don't have to have them to pass inspection here.
I've been following this and past posts about turn signals. For the most part people pay attention to things like that where I drive - local roads, not on the highway.
