Make sure you give him a copy of the TM 9-1825B manual from our downloads page. He won't be the first Professional to overlook that oil reservoir!

Um, i'm not finding TM9-1825B, would it be listed under
another heading like 24v system basics or other??

Duh.. yea i found it-just had to open my eyes. Its all clear on pg 103 fig 74. I'll put the genny on the bench and pull the oil thrower plug to see if
the oil pocket is dry. If so i'll defer to pg 116 par M and fill per spec. It
calls for a tablespoon "Preservative Lubricating Oil". What wt and type
is recommended??

DRY-AS-A-BONE.. you were right on Wes.. Im torn between lubing it
and seeing if the bearing isnt fried, or taking it to the shop dry and
proving that the bearing is dry and asking them to replace it n/c

Rick,
I'd take her back to the shop with the manual. If the guys honest and fair he'll correct his error. And he will have learned a valuable lesson. There's nothing we professionals do everyday that makes the use of the applicable manual unneccessary.
