Scabbard

I used to have a scabbard for a M1 Carbine which I gave to a friend with a GPW. It had been in my family since the early 1950's. We had horses when I was a kid and an old retired cavalryman gave my dad a Mclellen saddle, saddlebags and the scabbard. When I was twelve I rode in a centennial parade wearing his old uniform (pinned up) with the saddle and full rig. Wish I still had some of that stuff. The cavalryman retired from the army in the 1930's and lived near us. I interviewed him once for school and he told me about chasing Pancho Villa with Pershing and then fighting (dismounted) in WWI. I remember him saying that "the #@$%@ Fritzi's machine guns took the fun out of everything...." Quite a character.

FWIW - I've seen scabbards in good shape selling for $300-400 dollars so at the very least you have an investment.

This is a pix of my scabbard Image

However a lot of metal scabards were there:

Rocks wedged in front of the tires. Guess they didn't trust the parking brake.
