Hello guys!
Still on this subject (oil filters): has the M38 oil filter same diameter as the Purolator on WWII jeeps?
Thanks, regards!

The military Junior Filters made by Fram, Puralator & AC all use the same size element.

Post WWII Puralator civilian filter was noticeably smaller than the Puraltor version of the military junior filter.

I don't see any lettering on the top of that military filter canister. Is that correct??

Gary,

We are still waiting for the end of your investigation for that answer. I can't read the top of that large filter in that photo. it may have the MSXXXXX number that just isn't visible that small.

Hello Wes,

May I suggest that the CJ2A Jeep oil filter had the same diameter as the MBs and GPWs junior oil filter?

In fact CJ3As had a smaller diameter oil filter housing.

The difference between CJ2A and MB/GPW may be the letterings embossed on the cover indicating "for military use..." on the military jeep. Civilian CJ2A had no letterings on the filter cover.

Is this correct?

No, as I show in my photo above the Military junior is much larger than the CJ2A's Puralator filter and the Fram used on the CJ2A was not the same as the Military Junior Fram.

This has been the same problem I have had with gathering info from web sites like ours or G503.
