Well sea foam is a product that you add to gasoline to help your engine run better after it has been sitting for a while, my friend said that it is a good penetrate and you can get it at I think almost any auto store. Oreillys, Autozone, Napa, etc.

Rick will soon know just how bad I really am when he comes to the Black Hills Jeep Meet starting next Monday. We'll be spending a week driving our Jeeps together on the trails. At night, I'll be busy swapping any parts I need for my M38 while Rick is out cold sleeping. LOL, John

Thanks Brett, I think I am going to try to get it running and if it runs then I will do minor body work and then put it in Provos Freedom Festival Parade as well as the Freedom Vehicles military Display and outpost event. Then I will start to do a lot of restoration on it.

I wish you well on getting it to crank over. Be sure there is no water in any of the oils.

First thing I did when I got mine home was change the oil
and filter. Figured that black stuff would do me no favors
when I turned the engine over. Cleaned the plugs, checked the
radiator fluid, hooked up a fresh battery and trickled a little
gas in the carb. Pulled the choke out, hit the starter, and it fired
up after a few turns. Hope you have similar luck.

Ah. The Great Salt Lake. I used to run suppplies out to Parker
Drilling's rig 148 in the late 70's. They had a shore base on
Promontory Point.

Yeah, I think I need to get a new bolt to go on the end of my shaft. The bolt I have is stripped... The threads on the cam are not though.

I think your talking about the crank pulley nut? Saying this since I saw you pull the pulley off. Or have you pulled the timing cover off to look at the cam?

You can borrow my pulley nut if its holding you up from working on it. I don't have any plans to drive mine for the time being.

So I took the shocks off of the front today. They are really beat up. I am debating on where to buy them. Midwest military- 29.99 Oreillys-20.99
Anywhere else that might be cheaper and guaranteed to fit? Also the rubber.

Also where is a place to buy the 24 volt headlights that are going to connect directly into the connection that the jeep already has. So like an original headlight. I would prefer not to have to modify.

Here is an image of the fuel filter, is this also the fuel pump? Is it an original fuel pump?

You've got a CJ2A style fuel pump. Stock would be a dual action fuel/vac pump. You need to take a look at WesK's photo gallery, there is a wealth of info in there.

There are numerous places to buy headlights. Midwest,
Ron Fitzpatrick, AJP, to name a few. Don't forget Saturn Surplus.
They have a website easy to navigate as well as sell stuff
on EBay.

Be sure and specify the connection. Original M38 would have
been Douglas connectors, the metal ones.

One thing I've found is several vendors do not take American
Express. I understand that Amex charges vendors a higher
percentage than say Visa or other cards, but the trade off is
they only charge the cardholders a set yearly fee. Sometimes
that is a factor where to buy.

Do you still have decent grommets in the headlight buckets?
The proper ones can be found but in a pinch inexpensive
ones from the hardware store will keep the wires from being
chafed.
