New to this forum, MB electrical question,

How much amperage is required to run the 6V headlights and blackout lights? I want to mount an old MB grille w/the lights working on the wall in my shop...also, does anyone know of a transformer available that will go from 110V to 6V with proper amperage? Thank you for your response.

First you must determine the power rating of your GE-63 lamp. It is 4 watts @ 7 volts = 4 / 7 = 0.57 amps. Two BO marker lamps = 1.14 amps

The stock 6 volt headlamps has a

hi rating of 45 watts / 7 volts = 6.42 amps. Two headlamps = 12.84 amps.

lo rating of 35 watts / 7 volts = 5.0 amps. Two headlamps = 10.0 amps.

Which beam you use plus the two BO Marker lamps will be the total amps you must prepare for.

Here's a web site with a power supply selection work sheet.

Perhaps another idea would be to revamp some bulbs and put in low wattage 110 VAC bulbs in the backs of the headlights somehow. Normal headlights might be too much for just for the effect.

Or, just use a 6 volt battery and a battery charger. Then when you find a MB, just install the grill!
