How do I know what branch n numbers belong on hood of my 52 M38A1 ? It has USMC on it not sure if original

There are a lot of ways to tell if it is a USMC jeep. Do the data plates say USMC by chace?

Dean, Most USMC jeeps will have a responsible agency plate like these:
The later direct USMC contracts had Marine Corp in both blocks.
