I have a few questions. First, what is this bracket called under the rear passenger side fender? ( first picture ) Is there supposed to be one on the under the driver side rear fender?
On page 145 of the M38 reference guide it shows holes #8 as Tail Light Stone Deflector Panel on the outside of the rear drivers side quarter and on the inside quarter it shows two holes as #2 the tail light splash guard. Would appreciate some clarification on this.
This is welded on.
missing? This fender was severely damaged.

The first photo is the side mounted spare tire bracket support panel. Only on the pass side.
The second photo shows where the stone guard goes but yours is missing.

Do both sides have a stone guard? I'm having troubles seeing a stone guard in your last pic. Is it a flat piece of steel? What are the dimensions.

Hi Aaron,
Yes there is supposed to be a stone guard
on the left side, but it is not in the photo.
There are two bolts on the inside of the tub
and two bolts on the outside. Look for them,
the holes should be on your tub and fender.

I don't have dimensions but here is some more info. I just made mine by looking at pictures and measuring the space where it fits.

I have my original from a Canadian unit and unlike the pictures I have seen mine has a set of creases corner to corner both ways. more difficult to make but a smidge stronger, not that it should make a difference it is a fairly small plate.

Midwest Military makes the left rear splash pan for the M38 or 38A1. They are different between the two jeeps.
$20 ea. Not really worth ones time to make it of this price. Has the correct weld tab nuts too.
