Anyone have a good suggestion on a material or something for sealing the windshield vent cover?

It looks remarkably similar to the cowl battery box lid.

and George at AJP show them for sale.

I don't any weather seal on the batt box either. For my tool box I have just weather seal foam tape but it's stark white and I don't really want to see that in the windshield cover.
I'm not looking for stock, just something quick and cheap.

I think maybe you're trying too hard to seal up a vehicle that just wasn't meant to be airtite. I hear you on the drafts but in the long run they're a fact of it. Hats and gloves man. At least you're not out in the wind.

No, there is a seal spec'd there Rick. It's in the ORD 9
list and diagrams as well as the Body and Frame manual.

It and the battery box lid have different numbers. It looks
one piece in the pics. Rubber.

If you don't go stock try and find some black rectangular
weather seal or rubber. You can use weather seal adhesive.
I bought a tool box gasket. It has a notch in it for the raised
lip to fit in. I pushed it down on the lip, but found out later
here it and the other seals are applied to the doors not the
other way around.

The gnarly windshield I bought still has the vent seal under the
vent, but I suspect it will crumble when I pull it to clean
and paint.

About midway down you'll see the windshield.

I'm not trying to seal it up really, just mitigate the cool draft in front of me. That cover seems to let a considerable amount of cool air in, especially noticeable when it's in the 20's.

No offense intended my friend. Check your local True Value for window glazing bead you may find something to mod for your needs.

Rick, we were PM'n about this and talking about felt. Thought I'd just bring this out to the public board.
I was thinking and think we agree now felt would be bad as it holds moisture.
I went to our local big box craft store scanning the isles for anything. Found this foam sheet material stuff Brought home a 12"X 18" 5mm sheet. Just enough for a vent cover and battery box.
This stuff is pretty firm but conforms. Sealed the deal.

With a good material there is no reason you can't seal the vent completely.

Whether it is waterproof (rain) would depend on the material.
