Picked up a nice set of older Warn 10 spline locking hubs, M3B marked. I read they are automatic, work sort of like a ratchet. Is there installation instructions anywhere? I see no difference in the 2, but in reading someone mentioned left and right.

I see two parts (top left) - a slotted washer and a what looks look a nut that you'd install with a pin wrench. Those are separate from the rest of the assembly. I assume you remove the bolts on the standard axle end, remove the dust cap, remove the snap ring, take off the end. Then what? Is there enough threads to put that washer and lock on or do you take off the bearing retainer nut and washer and replace with the new parts. I assume the second. Then I assume there is set screw locks in that ring-like nut (I'll have to clean it good and get out the magnifying glass). Then what, do you somehow remove the very end off the big assembly with the control knob or how do you put he snap ring back on when you have bolted the Warn assembly on? Wish I could see a step by step instructions.

Guessing from the CJ2A forum post the slotted washer and nut with set screws goes on top of the existing spindle bearing retainer nut.

I still don't see how to put the snap ring back on

I had these hubs on a 1970 CJ-5 and they are very good. The center part that looks like a bearing is a sprag clutch; it will free wheel on 2 wheel drive. They lock automatically when you shift on 4x4 but still free wheel on compression. I had a problem only once on a steep gravel slope; the front axle started to jump up and down and would not pull. I had to stop and lock the hubs.
