I have installed valve guides in various engines over the years.Just wanted to know how others did it,in this case with the M38 L134 engine block. When installing the guides .Do you lubricate the outside of the guides with oil,a pressure type of grease, freeze them or anything else? I have fabricated a set of drivers and spacers to install in the block of the L134 M38 engine. This is the type of installation I am wondering about now. Many THANKS

The guide to block interface needs to be dry. The TM 9-1804A is rather brief in it's description of the procedure. It helps a lot to use the civvy manual (SM-1002) along with the TM 9-1804A for engine rebuilding.

Wes, is a downloadable copy of the SM-1002 available anywhere? I briefly looked here but maybe I missed it.
