What frequency range was this antenna use for?

Ken, I am not a signal guys but I believe you are looking at a freq range of 1.5 to 30.0 MHz.

Thank you both for the information. I have had the the antenna mounted to the M38 since restoration, but never acquired any military radios.

I don't know but I would imagine the transceiver had an internal tuner, or there was a external tuner and or a balun used with the antenna.

I was thinking about mounting my Yaesu FT857D HF multi band transceiver in the jeep. But I'll probably install the multi band screw driver antenna ATAS-120A

With you being a ham, the RT-68 will work on the 6 meter band (50 Mhz... also is wideband FM 20Khz as opposed to 3Khz as used today)

You then use a combination of mast sections to get to the proper length.

That is the setup I have in my M-38, but my problem is I get the radio working on the bench fine, put it in the jeep and the transmitter goes out... something loose I have not been able to find...

I've hooked my VX7R up to the antenna and it seems to work ok.

I doubt if I will ever buy any military radios.
