M38 129 tooth flywheel ring gear.
Is it okay to remove it and reverse it? I've already done it but I'm wondering if it's ok to use it like that. Thanks.

I don't see why not. I looked at my NOS flywheel last night and both sides of the ring are the same. My father said he used to do that on the big trucks for Grossman's all the time before they started beveling them.

The manuals insist that the beveled edge of the gear teeth face the Bendix drive.
The proper way to remove an old ring gear is to drill a 3/8" hole through it and saw the remainder of the drilled hole through.
If you were able to remove and reverse yours without damage to either the flywheel or the ring gear then the fit is not what it was suppose to be.
There's two good reasons to spend the $30 on a new ring gear.

Thank you Wes. That's good enough for me. I really appreciate everyone's response. Looks like I'll be replacing it with a new one.
