Hey guys looking for some experienced info please?

I have a 52' M38.. i want to use it to launch my duck boat ( 1860) into Mississippi river off side of our camp levee which is sand. Not over a 45 degree slope.I Read up to deflate to 10lbs? but jeep still digs in with slight load and will get stuck....any advice on preferred tire tread? etc? i have unidirection on now. thanks

The 10 PSI is for the military NDCC's. This 10 PSI was for continuous operations in beach sand and desert sand with the military wheel which had safety beads to prevent the tire rolling off the wheel in turns.

Each tread and sidewall design will react differently to pressure changes. Once you try different tires you must go with the manufacturer's recommendations or experiment with various pressures yourself.

you need a wider tire for floatation, don't think the tread matters as much. I once put 15 " paddle tires on the back of my m38 and it went all over the dunes in 2wd.
See if any of your jeep buddies have a set of 31 x 10.5 tires and rims you could borrow to see how they float on your jeep. even so, a short 45* slope mite be to steep for a long stroke 4 cyl. to develop wheel spin pulling any weight.

The guys are right. I might add a couple of suggestions: 1. I would try to replicate the same conditions away from water. Meaning, try out whatever you have or end up with without the possibility of rolling into the drink and spoiling your day. 45 degrees is very steep and you only have about 35-40 hp to work with. 2. Have a good buddy standing by with a recovery vehicle and a good winch. I have tried climbing loose sand and without a running start didn't get too far - and that was without a trailer.
