Air cleaner

As I was cleaning up my air cleaner in my m38, I noticed that one of the previous owners painted over some of the parts with an ugly red paint.

Am I mistaken or is the original scheme a black base painted over with a green?

Any guess as to a source for this particular color? The mirror in the background is AJP.

There are several posts on paint schemes.

All I believe indicate the air cleaner was black from the factory.
