Ring Gear
Have an 51 M38. Bought it with a 12 volt conversion and changing it back. I found a late 24v starter and bell housing ,one with a nose cone and was wondering if I could just change the ring gear on my flywheel. Anyone have any experience with this?

Yes the gear is replaceable. The how to is spelled out in the M38 engine & clutch manual TM 9-1804A page 82 & 83
