Hello everyone.

I have another question. Can anyone post pictues of the assembly and what i need to replace my canvas top on my jeep. I have the canvas and the double cross rods?... that go over the back. I can't figure out how it attaches to the windsheild. And were in the $&% i can find parts for this? I have searched for forever now with no luck. If anyone can help i would sure appreciate it. thanks,

If you look closely at the front edge of your canvas top it has a welt or rope sewn in it that makes a bead that is a tad thicker. This bead slides in the groove (underside) of the arched channel on your windshield. The side rods fasten to the door sill and the windshield and they interlock via a hole in the horizontal rod. The front end of the horizontal rod has a 90 deg bend that goes in a 90 deg steel bracket at the top outboard sides of the windshield.

Thank you for the information, it was VERY helpful. i have a pic of it below

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y144/J ... ure018.jpg

It's the original canvas to this jeep. Below i have pics of the doors. Sort
of feel apart on me while cleaning. Need to find a local upholster
shop to make repairs (i want to try and use originals).
Also do you know were i
can find these needed rods for my canvas?

I also have a pic of the fort end of my jeep. I have a towing hitch? Is this original?

Now that we know you have an M38A1 we'll try to be more precise with our photo selections.

That is a legitimate military add on tow bar kit used on the MB, GPW, M38 and M38A1. It has been modified with the civilian towing coupler.

Your verticle rod that the rear of your door latches to is set in the hole just ahead of the front bow storage bracket.

These photos from Dave's site should be just the ticket for you:

Here are the TB pages for the hitch:

The large version of these are on my image site: http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... _album.php
Jon Roger's Jeep Draw site has complete construction drawings for the hitch. You can get those just for the cost of mailing so you can fabricate the parts needed to make her stock again.

It pays to search this site.  :!:

These diagrams are a great help. I have the two bows to windshield rods and one drop rod for my M-38 and have been attempting to figure out how the work. However my bow to windshield rods do not have the drop rod support fitting. From the diagrams & descriptions it sounds like the drop rod is simply sitting in place, not really fastened. I assume the purpose of the drop rod is to serve as a rigid point for the door and not as a vertical support of the bow to windshield rods. Is this correct?

Thanks,
