Then you also have an engine with a chain drive cam shaft. Since that cam shaft rotates in the opposite direction from an M38 engine the oil pump drive gear and driven gear are reversed pitch. Thus they rotate the opposite direction as well.
The MB engines used a front engine mount plate that had both ears angled aft. The M38A1 fram requires a front mount plate with the right ear angled aft and the left ear angled forward.
There are a few more subtle differences.
As a minimum you should have four manuals for your M38:
1-ORD 9 SNL G-740 Parts list
2-TM 9-804 or TM 9-8012 Operator's manual.
3-TM 9-1804A Engine & Clutch
4-TM 9-1804B Chassis & Running gear.
Now with the MB engine your should get:
1-ORD 9 SNL G-503 Parts list. I would suggest the 1949 edition.
2-TM 9-1803A Engine & clutch
A very handy manual for both is the Willys CJ factory maintenance manual SM-1002 and the 49-53 edition of the Willys Jeep Master Parts List.

First the photo you wish to post must already be on a web site such as a photo hosting web site. Second it must be a public file so when you link to it to add it to a post our web site has permission to pick it up.
The easiest way to do all of this is just get an album of your own here on our web site.
