M-38 Oil Pump, removal of same!

Post by capescw »

Attempting to lower oil pump somewhat in order to re-index the proper waterproof distributor. Apparently the original owner changed it to match a civilian distributor. The manual says 'remove the bolt (singular) then remove the pump'. BUT, it wont budge, despite some persuasion with a hammer. Are there additional steps/bolts?

Thanks in advance

There are 3 each 5/16" bolts that hold the pump on the block.

TM 9-1804A
The omission of two bolts in the removal section of the TM is clearly a typo. They get it right in the installation instructions on page 95 where they tell you to install the 3 bolts..
