Hi guys, Sweden here.
I have made a new friend owning a M38A1 - CDN2 imported to Sweden 1987. The jeep was registred by the Swedish Authorities and been running in the streets since then.

Last week when he went to the yearly motor vehicle inspection they told him that the papers didn't correspond with the data plate. The papers says that the serial number is 7105-97688, but the data plate just says 97688. The frame is also stamped with 97688.

Can anyone inform me about the year of manufacture (my friend tells me it is manufactured in 1968), what the numbers 7105 means, and if there is any book or other ritten proof about the origin of his jeep. The purpose is to show the authorites an evidence and leave him be, so he will not have to do another test for registration, I mean it is the authorities that made a mistake from the beginning, but they will not admit that.

This forum kindly helped me with the origin of my Saudi M38A1 a year ago, and I used that information togehter with a lot of other papers to convice the authorities about the origin of my jeep.

Take care

7105 is the model number and 97688 is the sequential serial number.

71 represents the Model MD (M38A1)
05 represents Open Body

The dash plate carries the military serial number.

The patent plate carries Kaiser's complete model/serial number.

Dash plate CDN2 military uses MD for model and the 5 digit serial.

Dash plate CDN3 military uses MD for model and the 5 or 6 digit serial.

Patent plate Kaiser uses 7105 for the model and then the 5 digit serial.

This page of my M38A1 serial list indicates your freind's jeep is a March 1968 unit. built by Kaiser Jeep Toledo OH for the Canadian Army.
