Yet another hand brake question

Post by Madriver1968 »

Howdy all,

I've finally got the had brake installed on my M38A1, and I've got yet another question. I've noticed that there is some play in the hand brake lever. The play is front to back at the end where it attaches to the yoke and clevis. It's not particularly free movement -- in other words, it doesn't swing back and forth easily. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

A picture is always worth a thousand words!

Since the handle does not fasten directly to the yoke your description indicates you have not assembled the rod correctly.

There are three goals for you to achieve with the handbrake system.

1 - That it effectively holds the jeep still.

2 - That it does not rattle.

3 - That the handle remains in the selected position.

Are you meeting these goals now?
