You neglected to let us know what make model jeep and what engine you are working on.

You may be able to loose your manuals in your shop but not on your computer/laptop/IPad.

Click on this link, select the manuals you can't find in your shop and download them. All the answers lie within them!

Sorry Wes it is a 1952 M38 and I was told 55lbs for the ream main for torque
It all went well and let's hope I got the leaks fixed but time will tell now it is time to hunt for my manual. Is there an off the shelf oil filter people here are using and if so does anyone know the number?

Depends on which filter you have installed. It should have came with a Cuno filter. Cuno's must be cleaned and reused.

There is the Military Junior which can be several different brands. If you have one of these select your element carefully.

That would be the Willys Part No. for the Fram Military Junior element Fram # C21P2 which consists of the element Fram# 7631 & gasket Fram# 11582.

Do not confuse a Fram civilian cartridge type oil filter assembly with a Fram Military Junior cartridge type filter assembly. They do not use the same element.

The list of cross reference element PN's is very Looooong!

Today the MS35346-1 element has a NSN 2940-00-141-9025

Many filter elements have several applications which is why the low demand military junior gasket is often not included in modern cross referenced element kits.

There are two Fram gaskets listed for the military junior:

Fram # 11581, ORD# 5308281 Cover bolt gasket: 0.75 OD x 0.54 ID x0.062 Thick.

Fram # 11582, ORD# 7039934 Cover gasket: 5.125 OD x 4.375 ID x 0.058 Thick.
