Series-2 L134 Gaskets for Rear Engine Plate

Org 9 lists two gaskets 8328048 and 8328049 that go before and after rear engine plate. They are used on engines after serial no. 74419. Although I have an early M38, it's doubtful that the engine is original. I do know I have a series-2 L134. I assume series 2 pre-dates 74419. If I'm correct, what gaskets if any do I need for these applications. When I disassembled the engine for rebuild, I saw no evidence of gaskets. Interestingly, TM9-1804A dtd June 1951 makes no reference to gaskets applied here. If none are required, is it a good idea to fabricate. Thanks in advance

Hi Brummy,
74419 was the serial number change to a sealed bellhousing.

Unless you have the later block, bellhousing and later vent system, gaskets
in that area are not necessary.

Take care,

I just installed a late sealed bell housing last week; since I do not plan to ford the Mississippi here, I used no gaskets.
I used the late bell housing because it came with the correct starter and I couldn't use the late starter with an early bell housing.
