I am trying to remove the gear shaft retention nut on my T90 in order to separate the transmission and transfer case. I have tried a 12pt 1 1/4 socket and it is a little small and does not fit over the nut. A 34MM fits a little loose. Is there a recommendation for the correct tool for removing the retention nut?

Is there a reason you have not tried a 1 5/16" or 1 3/8" six point socket yet? I forget which but if you take an adjustable wrench and snug it up on the nut then measure the gap you will have the correct socket size needed.
