I often mention that in addition to the standard military manuals a restorer will often find the Civilian Factory manuals useful as well. But I always seem to overlook one of the best written restoration guides out there. "Jeep CJ Rebuilder's Manual 1946-1971 by Moses Ludel.

This manual is extremely useful and especially for the new comer to this fine art of jeep restoration.

100 percent Wes. One of the first things I bought after the “project.”

Thank you Wesk for the reminder. I'll certainly see if I can find one at a decent price.

And there are two versions.

You will want the 1946-1971 version.

Dittos.
I find it to be a good complement to reading the Willys and Military manuals. When a first read of the official manual doesn't click, I refer to the Moses manual - and viz-versa.
Also many handy hints on tools and tricks.
Get both!

There is one drawback of the Moses book: He likes to "modify" a little too much for our purposes.

I know the owner of the Jeep on the cover.
